Line Sectionalizing with ABB Protective Relays and PLC





The benefits afforded by the increased functionality economics of such a system. Using a protective relay of ABB and a PLC is a rational assessment and because:

• Inexpensive radio modems installations.
• The software to carry out the jobs is programmed in ladder logic.
• The PCD, DPU 2000R, or TPU 2000R may be meadow retrofitted by the operator, if the protocols of Modbus or Modbus Plus are not currently established in the units.
• No proprietary equipment or protocols is used in this set up.
• An inexpensive interface of operation enabling for local visualization and remote operation is available.
• Real Time Switching by the microprocessor based IEDs.

This function is proposed to demonstrate the obtaining information method from the IED’s throughout the interfaces of Modbus and Modbus Plus. Every one of the nodes, HMI, PLC, and IED work in concert as below:
1. The PLC interprets information acquired from the TPU 2000R through the network of Modbus Plus. Data collected from the TPU 2000R are:
• Cumulative Watts, Amps, Volts, 3 Phase Power values are examine.

4. The MAGELIS HMI shows the values of data held in the PLC. The PLC performs as a data arbitrator and concentrator for the operations of logic in this installation. The MAGELIS HMI can stop the functions of automatic restoration preprogrammed in the PLC. The operator watching the data on the screen of MAGELIS can carry out manual restoration since each breaker visualization and all values of feeder metering are showed on the screen with the PLC placed in manual control mode.
