Difference between a Sensor and a Switch

Sensors and switches are two critical elements in an electronic system. Both of these elements must have a meaning, benefits and how the different apes. You can read the discussion about difference between a sensor and a switch bellow.

Definition of a sensor and a switch

The first difference between a sensor and a switch is about the definition. The sensor is a transducer that has a function of producing a variation of motion, light, sound, heat and magnetic which later became the voltage and amperage. Besides, the sensor is also useful to detect and to know magnitude. Basically transducer means by changing some energy into the other energy. Energy processed has a goal to help the performance of devices that use sensor element. The sensor is used for the detection and measuring. There are many types of sensors in an electronic circuit, but that is often used is a light sensor, a pressure sensor and a temperature sensor.

Sensor and Switch

While the switch is a component or device used to connect or disconnect the power supply. Switch is one of the electrical components and it is very important. Almost all electronic and electrical use switches to turn on and turn off the electrical appliance is used.

Benefits sensors and switches

Difference between a sensor and a switch is also located on its merits. The sensor has the benefit of capturing stimuli such as motion, sound, heat or light is then converted into electrical voltage. In the world of sensor technology has an important role because without censorship we can analyze the events that happen within a state.

The benefit of the switch can be seen on a flashlight with 9 volt DC voltage. When the switch is in the condition ON the flashlight bulb will light. Conversely, if the switch is in the off state, the light will die. This is because there is no current flowing to the battery due to voltage lights will stop on one side of the switch and cannot be passed until the switch is turned back.

Principal working of sensor and a switch

Difference between a sensor and a further switch lies in the way it works. The sensor works by capturing stimulus or stimuli that is in their past the sensor could be light, heat, movement or sound. After the sensor will process the data and indicate the presence of objects or movements that pass then through the sensor then processed into electric current.

As for how the switch is with two conductors connected with the outside of the circuit. When both the conductor bar is connected, there will be a relationship of electric current in the circuit and when the conductors are separated, the electrical circuit will be disconnected.

That's all about a sensor and a switch includes the definition of both of them, the difference until the principal working. After knowing about them you can explore its based your need.
