Difference between HMI (Human Machine Interface) and OIT (Operator Interface Terminal)

HMI (Human Machine Interface) and OIT (Operator Interface Terminal) are two systems are interconnected and have an important position in the world of technology. Both can help human activity using electronic tools. Here is the difference between HMI (Human Machine Interface) and OIT (Operator Interface Terminal).

First, the difference between HMI (Human Machine Interface) and OIT (Operator Interface Terminal) can be seen from the understanding. Equipment HMI is a software interface between the machine or plant with the operator and bystanders. Usually bigger HMI consists of a computer center and a few separate computers and is used to monitor and control the machine. Features used by HMI are a plant information, presentation methods and equipment. Whereas the components used are media communications, computer hardware and software HMI.

HMI applications are usually not directly related to the intermediary server data. HMI also uses OPC which is the industry standard for inter connectivity systems using Microsoft COM technology and SCOM in the exchange of information on one or two computers. The advantage of using OPC is to minimize the burden by reducing the demand data, faster and easier to implement and does not require a lot of drivers.

While OIT or operator interface terminal is still a system with HMI but this is only in the form of a terminal that is used to operate the system. OIT is very reliable, durable and can provide important information and data obtained to be processed by the HMI. While uses ARM solution of this system can choose the option between advances by using dynamically control the display of information. OIT has a full screen to display the information captured and win.

Next, the difference between HMI (Human Machine Interface) and OIT (Operator Interface Terminal) viewed from the function. HMI created with the aim to collect and display information on the process plant, HMI also useful for a means for operators to access the automation system in the field. Within a broad outline HMI function is to provide information that is up to date plant to the operator via the user interface graphical, translating instructions into machine operator and engineering development station.

While the function of OIT is as an operating system interface that can retrieve and process information, OIT is more flexible and power if combined with HMI. OIT with the information obtained can be more accurate and precise. OIT help HMI performance by monitoring and controlling data and work processes HMI.

That's the difference between HMI (Human Machine Interface) and OIT (Operator Interface Terminal) as seen from the meaning and function.
